This Week.. on hall. (Jan 24-30)

Weekend Recap:

Amidst all the tragedies and turmoil in Haiti, a man was recovered under the rubble after 11 days! Roe vs. Wade had it's 37th anniversary on Friday. The Raleigh News and Observer has spotlighted the dangers of texting/ talking on your cell phone while driving. A few studies have shown that drivers who use their cell phone are anywhere between 8-23 times more likely to crash than those who do not. Most of NC has been under a flash flood for the weekend, and are expected to stay that way until Wednesday. The Colts are going to the Superbowl... (and currently the Saints and Vikings are tied 21-21).

On campus, the Senior basketball players and cheerleaders (shout out to Rebecca P, Rebecca G, Juliann and Caitlin F) were recognized for their hard work and dedication on Friday. Although both teams lost (girls by 4, boys by 1), they were hard fought games. There are still 3-4 more games scheduled until the end of the season. Saturday, the girls ice skated with the boys of 2E Hillsborough. The Orchestra (shout out to Ashley and Imani) had their Winter concert on Sunday, and the hall enjoyed their first hall challenge (shout out to the RLAs: Paula, Hope, Sierra and Rebecca P for coordinating the entire event, and to Molly and Jeanette for winning).

Quote of the Week:

"Perhaps the most valuable result of all education is the ability to make yourself do the thing you have to do, when it ought to be done, whether you like it or not; it is the first lesson that ought to be learned; and however early a man's training begins, it is probably the last lesson that he learns thoroughly." - Thomas H. Huxley, 1825-1895
