Welcome to Bloglife

Hello Everyone,

We're going to try a new way to communicate from the halls of Reynolds 1C2C1D to the families and friends around the state. Please let me know what you think? Should we keep the newsletters, or try the blog? Please let me know, and leave a comment below!

Upcoming Events and Announcements:

  • First Trimester Exams: November 3-6, 2009.

Exams are normally scheduled at 9am, 130pm and 6pm each day for 2.5 hours. Exam schedules will be posted on AAG so students can figure out their individual schedule. During the scheduled exams, students who are not taking exams are expected to abide by Morgue Hours. Morgue hours are a set of guidelines that students must adhere to during Trimester Exams. Basically, Morgue Hours are stricter than quiet hours. Below are the main guidelines:

  1. Residence halls are to be extremely quiet at all times except that hour when Quiet hours are lifted from 830-930pm weekdays.
  2. Coed/group studying before 1030pm in Bryan, Hill and Hunt lobbies, ground Bryan/ Beall, the Student Center, library group rooms, Bryan labs, and available classrooms.
  3. Group study after 1030pm in hall lounges and student rooms with doors closed and in residence hall lobbies.
  4. Group or individual study between 12am and 1am in residence hall lobbies with SLI permission.
  5. The library must remain quiet for individuals who wish to study.
  6. Socializing and group study in the hallways is prohibited.
  7. Sounds of group study must not be heard outside of room or lounge doors.
  8. Curfew has been changed to 830pm Tuesday-Thursday. All other curfews, including in-room remain in effect.
  9. Discuss and agree on music/headphone use. Be respectful of your roommate(s) and hall mates!

Quiet hours go into affect before and after morgue hours. Quiet hours and morgue hours are only lifted from 830-930pm each night to give students time to complete their housekeeping, to relax and release any emotions they may have incurred during the day.

At this time, our RLAs will plan study break activities for the residents on hall. We will also have candy treats for everyone. If you are interested in providing a study break snack, please let me know and we will coordinate it best with your schedule.

  • Trimester Reports

Each student will receive a trimester report from their teachers, work service supervisor, and SLI. These reports will highlight your daughters accomplishments and/or weaknesses in their 1st trimester classes, work service and residence halls. This year, the trimester report will be available on FOCUS.

  • Trimester Break: November 6-11, 2009

Residence Halls close on Friday, November 6th at 5pm and open on Wednesday, November 11th at 12pm.

Due to the long break, students are expected to clean their rooms thoroughly (sweeping and mopping). It is expected that all students unplug all their appliances, including refrigerators. This is also a good time to go through the wardrobes and dressers and take home any Fall apparel in preparation for the winter season. Trimester sign-out will continue in the same manner as Extended weekends. Students are expected to sign-out on the Extended sign-out sheets posted on the entrance door of their sub-hall. If the student is not going home that night, going home on/before Thursday, November 5th or returning to NCSSM on/after Thursday, November 12th, they must fill out an overnight sign-out form.
