Hello Everyone,Welcome to third trimester, a time when spirits are high, the weather is cool and the campus is at an all time peak! The next three months you will notice weekends are extremely busy with Fests, concerts, plays, sports events, Prom, and then the end of year festivities. I encourage each of you to look over the main website for sports and campus announcements. We are always in need of more parent involvement!
Food Drive:
On March 5, 2011, NCSSM set on their second attempt to break the Guinness World Record for most no
nperishable food donated in 24 hours at one location. And WE DID IT!!! Not only did we surpass our first attempt of a little more than 319,000 lbs, as well as the current World Record of 510,00 but we beat our own goal of 550,000 lbs by collecting 559,885 lbs of food! It was a great day for staff, faculty, students and community!Student Leadership Positions:
For Junior Parents, many of your daughters will talk about the leadership application process for Residential Life Assistants (RLA), Multicultural Peer Counselor (MPC), Student Ambassador, Attache' and Peer College Counselors (PCC). This is a long process, but is wonderful practice for writing application essays, group and individual interviews as well as cover letter and resume writing.
Prom:
Information about NCSSM Prom 2011 has been sent out to the student body and p
osted on the Parent Page. Please review the packet, and speak with your daughter about attire, accommodations, dinner, off campus/overnight stays, and transportation. This is the only day we allow students to bring and drive personal vehicles. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Also, I am coordinating parent volunteers to help with set-up from 6-9pm, chaperoning from 9pm-1am and clean up from 1-2am at the Prom.
